Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Announces 2026 Community Walk for Breast Cancer Honoring Dr. Lisa Curcio
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to announce its 2026 Community Walk for Breast Cancer, an annual event that brings together breast cancer survivors, families, friends, healthcare professionals, and community members in a united effort to support those affected by breast cancer throughout the Hudson Valley.

This year's Walk on October 4 at James Baird State Park will proudly honor Dr. Lisa Curcio, a breast cancer survivor and breast surgeon at Northern Dutchess Hospital, in recognition of her exceptional dedication to caring for breast cancer patients and her inspiring personal journey as a survivor.

Dr. Curcio has devoted her career to providing compassionate, expert surgical care while guiding patients through some of life's most challenging moments. Her own experience with breast cancer has strengthened her commitment to helping others navigate diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship with empathy, hope, and resilience.

"We are honored to recognize Dr. Lisa Curcio as the 2026 Community Walk Honoree," said Pari Forood, Executive Director of the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. "As both a highly respected breast surgeon and a breast cancer survivor, Dr. Curcio embodies the courage, compassion, and strength that define our mission. She has touched countless lives through her exceptional patient care and serves as an inspiration to survivors and healthcare professionals alike."

The Miles of Hope Community Walk for Breast Cancer raises critical funds to support local breast cancer programs throughout Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. Funds raised remain entirely within the Hudson Valley, providing assistance through grants for support services, education, treatment support, screenings, and programs that improve the quality of life for those facing breast cancer.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized by the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation," said Dr. Lisa Curcio. "Having experienced breast cancer from both the physician's and the patient's perspective has reinforced the importance of compassionate care, early detection, and community support. Miles of Hope has made an extraordinary difference for so many individuals and families in our region, and I am grateful to be part of an organization that is committed to ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone."

The Community Walk welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, including survivors, families, corporate teams, healthcare organizations, schools, and community groups. In addition to the walk, attendees will enjoy activities celebrating survivorship, remembrance, and the collective strength of the Hudson Valley breast cancer community.
